카카오톡 안에서 챗GPT를 쓸 수 있습니다. 따로 설치할 앱은 없습니다.

오픈AI 공식 도움말에 따르면 이 서비스는 카카오와 오픈AI가 공동 개발했습니다. 그리고 한국에서만 제공됩니다.

시작은 세 단계입니다. 카카오톡을 열고, 채팅 탭으로 간 뒤, 탭 상단의 ChatGPT 를 누르면 됩니다.

■ 계정은 세 갈래

어떤 계정으로 쓰게 될까요? 상황에 따라 갈립니다.

  • 이미 챗GPT를 쓰고 있다면 기존 오픈AI 계정을 연결합니다. 카카오에서 나눈 대화 기록을 챗GPT 쪽에서도 이어 볼 수 있습니다
  • 카카오 계정으로 시작하면 그 정보로 챗GPT 계정이 새로 만들어집니다
  • 지역에 따라서는 계정 없이 그냥 써 볼 수도 있습니다

카카오톡을 통해 가입한 계정은 챗GPT 앱에서도 그대로 쓸 수 있습니다.

■ 카카오 서비스를 불러오는 도구 네 개

일반 챗GPT와 갈리는 지점이 여기입니다. 요청에 카카오 서비스가 필요하면 챗GPT가 해당 도구를 불러 결과를 대화창에 돌려줍니다.

  • 카카오맵 — 카페와 식당, 가게, 명소를 찾고 주소와 평점을 확인합니다. 지역을 알려주면 근처를 추천합니다
  • 카카오톡 예약하기 — 예약을 지원하는 업체를 찾아, 카카오에서 예약을 마치도록 연결해 줍니다
  • 카카오톡 선물하기 — 상황과 예산, 받는 사람에 맞춰 선물을 제안하고 구매·발송으로 연결합니다
  • 멜론 — 곡과 아티스트, 앨범, 플레이리스트를 찾아 듣기로 연결합니다

실행 여부는 쓰는 쪽이 정합니다. 링크를 따라갈지, 제안된 동작을 할지 고르면 됩니다.

■ 어떻게 물어보나

도움말이 든 예시는 이런 식입니다.

  • 합정역 근처에서 커피 마실 만한 곳
  • 시청에서 10분 안에 갈 수 있는 비건 점심 식당
  • 직장 동료 생일 선물, 3만원 정도로
  • 강릉에서 바다 보이는 호텔을 예약하고 싶어

답은 카카오톡 대화방에 그대로 공유할 수 있습니다. 대화 도중에 챗GPT를 부르는 단축 기능도 지원되는 곳에서는 쓸 수 있습니다.

■ 버튼이 안 보인다면

도움말은 두 경우를 나눠 설명합니다.

ChatGPT 버튼 자체가 안 보이면 한국 전화번호로 가입한 최신 버전 카카오톡인지 확인하라고 안내합니다.

그러면 도구가 안 뜨는 경우는 어떨까요? 카카오 도구는 관련이 있을 때만 나타납니다. 동네와 날짜, 시간, 예산 같은 조건을 넣어 다시 물어보거나, 입력창 아래 카카오 도구 버튼을 먼저 누르면 실행될 확률이 올라갑니다.

예약이나 구매가 끝나지 않는다면 해당 카카오 서비스에 로그인이 필요할 수 있습니다. 그래도 안 되면 카카오 고객센터로 문의하라고 안내합니다.

■ 알아둘 것 셋

무료로 시작할 수 있습니다. 기능을 더 쓰거나 사용량 한도를 올리려면 챗GPT 플러스를 고려하라고 안내합니다.

지금 되는 것은 이미지 생성과 웹 검색, 그리고 카카오 도구입니다. 기능은 차차 늘려갈 계획이라고 밝혔습니다. 오늘 무엇이 되는지는 카카오톡 안의 챗GPT 화면에서 확인하는 편이 정확합니다.

데이터는 양쪽 정책을 함께 봐야 합니다. 카카오 도구를 쓰면 요청 처리에 필요한 내용이 해당 카카오 서비스로 넘어갑니다. 카카오 쪽 처리와 보관, 권한은 카카오 정책을 따르고, 챗GPT에 남는 대화 사본에는 오픈AI 정책이 적용됩니다.

한 가지 주의할 것이 있습니다. 도움말에는 카카오톡 신규 구독자 캐시백 안내가 아직 남아 있는데, 문서가 밝힌 기한은 2025년 12월 31일입니다. 이미 지난 날짜입니다.

You can use ChatGPT inside KakaoTalk. There is nothing to install.

According to OpenAI's help centre the service was co-developed by Kakao and OpenAI. It is available only in Korea.

Getting in takes three steps. Open KakaoTalk, go to the Chat tab, then tap ChatGPT at the top of the tab.

Three ways to sign in

Which account will you be using? It depends on where you start.

  • If you already use ChatGPT, link your existing OpenAI account and your Kakao conversations stay visible in ChatGPT too
  • Start with a Kakao account and a ChatGPT account is created from that information
  • Where available, you can try it without an account at all

An account created through KakaoTalk also works in the ChatGPT app itself.

Four tools that reach into Kakao

This is where it parts company with ordinary ChatGPT. When a request needs a Kakao service, ChatGPT calls the relevant tool and returns the result in the chat.

  • Kakao Map - finds cafes, restaurants, shops and landmarks, shows addresses and ratings, and suggests nearby options for an area you name
  • KakaoTalk Reservations - surfaces businesses that take bookings and deep-links you into Kakao to finish the booking
  • KakaoTalk Gift - suggests gifts by occasion, budget or recipient and links through to buy and send
  • Melon - looks up songs, artists, albums and playlists and links out to listen

You stay in control. It is your choice whether to follow the link or take the suggested action.

How to ask

The help centre's own examples run like this.

  • Where can I get a coffee near Hapjeong Station
  • A vegan lunch spot within ten minutes of City Hall
  • Gift ideas around 30,000 won for a coworker's birthday
  • I want to book an ocean-view hotel in Gangneung

Answers can be shared straight into a KakaoTalk chatroom, and where supported there is a shortcut for calling ChatGPT from inside an ongoing chat.

If the button is not there

The help centre separates two cases.

If the ChatGPT button itself is missing, it advises checking that you are on the latest version of the Korean KakaoTalk app, registered with a Korean phone number.

And if the tools do not appear? Kakao tools surface only when they are relevant. Ask again with specifics such as neighbourhood, date, time or budget, or tap the Kakao Tools button below the input box first to improve the odds.

If a booking or purchase will not complete, you may need to sign in to that Kakao service. Failing that, the guidance is to contact the Kakao Customer Center.

Three things worth knowing

You can start chatting for free. For more features or higher usage limits, the guidance points to ChatGPT Plus where available.

What works today is image generation, web search and the Kakao tools, with more features planned over time. The reliable check is the ChatGPT interface inside KakaoTalk itself.

Data sits under two sets of rules. Using a Kakao tool sends the details needed to fulfil the request to that Kakao service. Handling, retention and permissions on the Kakao side follow Kakao's policies, while OpenAI's policies apply to the copy of the conversation held in ChatGPT.

One caution. The help centre still carries a cashback promotion for new subscribers through KakaoTalk, but the deadline the document itself states is 31 December 2025. That date has passed.
