구글은 제미나이 앱에서 최신 동영상 생성 모델인 '제미나이 옴니'로 몇 분 만에 영상을 만들 수 있다고 도움말에 적었습니다. 글과 이미지, 영상을 섞어 대화하듯 만들고 고친다는 설명입니다.

■ 만드는 순서

왼쪽 위 사이드바를 열고 '동영상 만들기'를 누릅니다. 원하면 템플릿을 고르고, 만들 영상에 대한 요청을 적으면 됩니다.

바로 버튼을 누르기 전에 제미나이와 대화하며 요청을 다듬어도 됩니다. 구글은 채팅에서 동영상 요청을 브레인스토밍하고 다듬을 수 있고, 그 경우 '동영상' 버튼을 따로 누를 필요가 없다고 적었습니다.

만드는 데 몇 분이 걸립니다. 그동안 같은 채팅은 이어 갈 수 없어서, 새 채팅을 시작했다가 나중에 돌아와 결과를 확인하면 됩니다. 영상에 맞춰 오디오를 만들어 달라고 할 수도 있습니다.

■ 비율과 이어서 고치기

화면 비율은 만들기 전에 정합니다. 글로만 요청하면 기본이 가로 화면이고, 참고 이미지나 영상을 올리면 그 비율을 따른다고 적혀 있습니다. 세로 쇼츠를 원한다면 미리 골라 둬야 합니다.

한 번에 끝낼 필요도 없습니다. 한 대화 안에서 영상을 계속 고칠 수 있고, 고칠 때마다 이미지나 영상을 참고로 붙일 수 있습니다. 가진 영상을 올려 수정 사항을 적용하라고 시키는 것도 되는데, 이 기능은 EEA와 스위스, 영국, 미국 일부 주에서는 지원되지 않는다고 적혀 있습니다.

■ 올리는 사진과 만든 영상의 책임

그럼 아무 사진이나 올려도 될까요?

구글은 올리는 이미지에 대한 권리를 가지고 있어야 하고, 남의 저작권이나 개인정보 보호 권리를 침해해선 안 된다고 못박았습니다. 금지된 사용 정책을 어기거나 남의 권리를 침해하면 계정이 해지될 수 있다고 적었습니다. 다른 사람을 속이거나 괴롭히거나 해치려는 목적으로 영상을 만들거나 공유하지 말라는 경고도 붙어 있습니다.

정책을 어길 가능성이 감지되면 제미나이가 영상을 삭제할 수 있다는 점도 적혀 있습니다. 만들다가 결과가 사라졌다면 이 경우일 수 있습니다.

Want to make short videos with AI? On Naver's Q&A service, a search for 'making AI videos' returns more than 17,000 questions as of September 24.

Google says the Gemini app can make videos in minutes with Gemini Omni, its latest video generation model, mixing text, images and video and creating and editing as easily as having a conversation.

One condition first: using this with a personal account requires a Google AI plan. It is not free.

■ How to make one

Open the sidebar at the top left and click Create video. Optionally pick a template, then describe the video you want.

You can start from images or video too: add them with Add image or Add video - one video and up to five images.

You can refine the request in conversation before pressing anything. Google says you can brainstorm and refine video prompts in the chat, in which case you do not need to tap the Video button.

Generation takes a few minutes, and you cannot continue the same chat meanwhile - start a new chat and come back later. You can also ask Gemini to generate audio for the video.

■ Aspect ratio and iterative edits

Choose the aspect ratio before creating. Text-only prompts default to landscape; uploading a reference image or video applies its ratio. For vertical shorts, set it in advance.

You need not finish in one go: keep editing within one conversation, attaching image or video references each turn. You can also upload your own video and ask for changes, though this is not supported in the EEA, Switzerland, the UK and some US states.

When done, use Share under the video to post to YouTube or download it.

■ Responsibility for uploads and outputs

So can you upload any photo?

Google says you must hold the rights to images you upload and must not infringe others' copyright or privacy. Violating the prohibited use policy or others' rights can get your account terminated, and it warns against making or sharing videos to deceive, harass or harm others.

Gemini may also delete a video if it detects a potential policy violation - if a result disappeared, that may be why.
